Decatur Mayor Mike McElroy clears air surrounding political advertisements
DECATUR-- You’ve likely by now seen the Andy Manar television commercial attacking Decatur Mayor and Manar’s opponent in the 48th State Senate race Mike McElroy. The ad alleges McElroy let the city pay for his internet and raised the City Manager’s salary to an unfair amount. Neither claim happened while McElroy was in office, and further research shows Manar made a similar amount while working for State Senate Majority leader John Cullerton’s office.
